Established in 1997, CAN Compass Advocacy Network is a charity working to improve the lives of children and adults living with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health issues. Based in Lislagan Farm on the outskirts of Ballymoney, they work across Causeway Coast & Glens, and Mid & East Antrim.
The farm hosts groups for presentations, runs educational visits and gives those involved with CAN the opportunity to take workshops and learn more about where their food comes from by growing their own veg on site.
But before their Full Fibre connection, CAN struggled to find a broadband provider who could provide the speeds they required to run their various support services.
“Being based in the countryside, as a charitable organisation, and given the scale of the Lislagan Farm, we struggled to find a broadband provider who could offer a fast, reliable broadband service at an affordable price that is necessary for the farm to be a viable base for Compass Advocacy Network.”
Prior to connecting to the Hyperfast Full Fibre network via Fibrus Broadband, CAN were quoted thousands of pounds to have wireless internet access throughout the site.
“When a staff member suggested that Fibrus may be available in the area, we were delighted to have another option, we reached out and they arranged a site visit. Once this was conducted, we were informed that it was possible to have a wireless connection throughout the site using 2 boosters, all at a much better deal than what was offered by other providers.
Our installation was carried out extremely quickly, which enabled us to hit the ground running by having a connection prior to renovations beginning on the farm. We were pleased to have this enhanced service from the very beginning of the project, as this has allowed our architects and builders on site to connect to Wi-Fi to access their plans.
Since connecting to Full Fibre broadband, CAN has been able to do much more thanks to their connection, and they have moved a lot of their day-to-day business online.
“Our connectivity has been so much better and is now future proof as our project expands.”

“We now have Microsoft Team meetings without the regular dropouts we were experiencing beforehand, and our youth groups can vlog and stream online for their social campaigns. Previously it would have been unthinkable to conduct remote meetings, log on for presentations and events, and to host groups. Our connectivity has been so much better and is future-proof as our project at the farm expands and develops.
Overall, the whole experience has been exceptionally smooth, and we have had a positive experience. Fibrus offered us solutions where no other provider could. Thanks to Hyperfast NI and Project Stratum, we can now have the peace of mind that future plans for our project will not be hindered by a poor connection.”
